About This Painting
The blues and golds in this painting work together to create an elegant depiction of Jerusalem’s most important monument. The Kotel, also known as the Wailing Wall, is a place of prayer and divine connection. The Kotel sees millions of visitors each year that come from all religions, cultures, and countries. Some come to admire the architecture and the history, but for Jews, the Kotel is of deep spiritual importance. The Western Wall is close to the Temple Mount, which under Jewish law, is restricted to most Jews. Visiting the Kotel allows Jews to get as close to the site of the Holy Temple as possible. At the Kotel, you’ll find people praying, kissing the wall, and leaving written prayers in the cracks.
