About This Painting
In the Silver Kotel, the visitors at the bottom of the wall are lost in prayer. The size of the wall compared to the size of the people in this painting symbolizes God’s power and protection over us. The Kotel, also known as the Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, is historically and spiritually significant for Jews. The Kotel is located in Jerusalem and is the last remaining portion of the Holy Temple complex. Next to the Temple Mount, the Kotel is the holiest site in the world for Jews. Many Jews will make a pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime to pray at the wall, reflect on Jewish history, and leave written prayers slipped into the cracks of the Kotel.
