About This Painting
The Blue and Gold Series Kotel offers an eye-catching depiction of Jerusalem’s beloved Western Wall. As one of the holiest sites in the Jewish tradition, this wall is one of the most frequently visited places by Jews and non-Jews. The Western Wall is a remnant of the Holy Temple that was destroyed over 2,000 years ago, and today it is a spiritual site where Jews go to feel close to God and offer up their prayers. Written prayers are sometimes left in the cracks of the Kotel. Since visiting the Temple Mount is restricted by Jewish law, Jewish people visit the Kotel to be close to the site where the Bais Hamikdash (Holy Temple), and the Ark of the Covenant, once were. Many visitors say they can feel the presence of G-d at the Kotel.
