About This Painting

On Rosh Hashanah, Jews proudly proclaim God as their king. The shofar, the kosher animal horn blown on this holiday, symbolizes numerous things. The blowing of the shofar is a sounding call to all Jews to celebrate God as king. The horn is blown to wake up sleeping souls and is reminiscent of the sounds heard on Mount Sinai when the Jews revived the Torah. It symbolizes the ram sacrificed by Abraham, the cries when the Holy Temple was destroyed, and Judgement Day.

The sound of the shofar has many meanings, and it is blown to call Jews from all over the Earth to unite under God. You can hear your personal “call of the Shofar” as you pass by this Jewish painting hanging in your home, by Nechama Fine Art.
