About This Painting

The wedding between a Jewish man and woman is a momentous event. As two souls are brought together as one with G-d, there are many steps and elaborate, age-old customs that take place before the couple is officially married. In this Nechama Fine Art original piece, the husband is standing next to his bride under the chuppah with his leg raised in the air so he can smash the glass bottle.

The smashing of a glass bottle under the chuppah is one of the most exciting Jewish wedding traditions. This piece features real glass pieces on the canvas that help bring this beautiful minhag – tradition to life. The Jewish wedding is spiritually representative of the relationship and devotion between G-d and the Jewish nation. During the marriage ceremony, the husband and wife become unified by love and their faith in G-d. They become one soul. The portion of the wedding that takes place under the chuppah is the most emotionally intense portion of the wedding day. It is under the chuppah that the bride and groom commit to forming a new home with each other.
